Caimanera Hotel islocated like a castle on the highest hillock, in the fishing village ofthe same name, which is in the heart of the Bahia de Guantanamo, betterknown as Guantanamo Bay. The South of the village is actually borderedby the Guantanamo Bay US Naval Base.
Hotel Caimanera with natural decorations and ambience is a model ofsimplicity and good taste. It is has been newly renovated for 2009. Itlooks great.
Offering excellent service and a historically unique location, it isthe prefect setting for a memorable vacation in a truly warm Cubancarefree atmosphere, made all the better by the sheer irony of being soclose to a culture so obsurdly opposite.
The hotel has been closed to foriegners for many (Bush) years untilFebruary 2009. Now (for the moment) it is open again to foreigntourists from Cuba-friendly countries - FOR LUNCH ONLY, and combinedwith tour of Los Monitongos. You must come in a group (7 to 40) withtour guide, and provide passport details of all visitors two weeks inadvance. The security checks in the Caimanera zone are very tight for goodreason, as you might expect. But it all adds to the excitement.
It would be surpising if you didn't feel very special and privileged if you visit here in 2009.

Hello DearI would highly suggest the Melia Cayo cocoWe’ve just returned from 2 weeks at the Melia having had a great holiday..The hotel is 10 minutes from the airport (but don’t worry about hearing plane noise because there just wasn’t any). Check in is very quick and your bags are brought round by the bell boy later on. The hotel is pretty big, but it is a bit tired looking and in need of a caring touch. They obviously know this as brand new furniture arrived in the lobby bar
We managed to get our holiday on a great deal. As we didnt pay as much,the little things that would have niggled us were easier to let go. We arrrived at the hotel about an hour after leaving the airport to be greeted with cold flannels and champers. It was a great way to arrive and the staff had a little makeshift reception set up with all your check in deatils ready. This took us all of 5 mins and we were on a golf buggy being taken to our room really quickly. We were in 4625 and this was a ro
